Dr. Xiaochao Xue
I received my Ph.D. in Chemical Biology under the supervision of Prof. Zhongjun Li at Peking University in 2015. From September 2015 to March 2018, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Todd L. Lowary at University of Alberta in Canada, exploring glycan-protein interactions, bacterial glycan assembly and transport mechanisms by using synthetic probes. Then I moved to Oxford and joined Prof. Ben Davis's group as postdoctoral research associate involved in sugar chemistry and synthetic biology. From October 2019 I took a postdoctoral position in Immunology, working jointly between the departments of chemistry and pathology. My current project associated with Sattentau lab relates to using chemistry to enhance the immunogenicity of glycans with the aim of applying this to tumor-associated carbohydrate-based vaccines and viral glycoprotein-based vaccines. For this work I am generating semi-synthetic glycans with activated tags for site-specific adduction to proteins.
